UN Special Rapporteur: Giving Voice to the Voiceless
The United Nations Secretary General issued his “Note transmitting the report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran” today. UN Special Rapporteur Ahmed Shaheed will present his most recent report to the 67th session of the UN General Assembly on October 24, 2012. While Shaheed has been denied entry to Iran since his appointment as Special Rapporteur, his reports have been exceedingly well documented, relying on first-hand witness testimony and hundreds of interviews with victims of human rights violations in Iran.
